Gaming gear, tuned to competition grade.
PowerGearLab is a hands-on workshop on Hanbury Street where we mod controllers, build custom keyboards, tune gaming rigs, and coach players who want every millisecond back.
2,400+ builds shipped since 2016
Our story
Built by players, for players.
What started as a two-bench repair corner behind Brick Lane has grown into East London’s go-to lab for performance gaming hardware. Here is how we got here.
- 12016
The Hanbury Street bench
We opened a single repair bench in Shoreditch, re-soldering drift-prone thumbsticks for local Overwatch and FIFA players.
- 22018
Custom keyboard studio
Demand for hot-swap boards and hand-lubed switches pushed us to open a dedicated keyboard studio with an in-house sound-testing booth.
- 32021
Rig tuning lab
We added a thermals-and-latency lab, benchmarking every build against real match telemetry rather than synthetic scores.
- 42024
Coaching floor
Our upstairs coaching floor now pairs hardware tuning with aim and review sessions led by former Valorant and Rocket League competitors.
What we do
Four benches, one obsession.
Every service starts with a free 15-minute diagnostic on-site. Prices are per unit unless noted, VAT included.
Anti-Drift Stick Rebuild
Hall-effect thumbstick swap with recalibration for Xbox, DualSense, and Switch Pro pads. Kills stick drift for good.
Tournament Trigger Stops
Mechanical trigger stops and clicky bumpers fitted and tuned for shooters — faster taps, consistent feel.
Full Pro Conversion
Back paddles, hair triggers, textured grips, and a bespoke faceplate. The complete competitive controller.

Trusted across the East London scene.
Verified customers from the Shoreditch and wider London gaming community.
“My DualSense had brutal drift before a qualifier. PowerGearLab did a Hall-effect rebuild in 90 minutes and it has been flawless through two seasons of ranked.”
Jordan M.
Hackney, London · March 2025
“They built me a 65% board from scratch and let me tune the switch feel on the bench. It sounds exactly like the demo they recorded — genuinely the best keyboard I have owned.”
Priya A.
Bethnal Green, London · January 2025
“The latency audit shaved real input lag off my setup and the report explained every change. My Valorant peeks feel noticeably tighter now.”
Tom O.
Islington, London · November 2024
“Booked a VOD review before a LAN and the coach was brutally honest but fair. The timestamped notes gave our squad three habits to fix that actually stuck.”
Rachel K.

Still unsure? Call us or drop into the Hanbury Street workshop.
Walk-ins are welcome for the free 15-minute diagnostic, but bench time for mods, builds, and coaching is booked in advance. Weekends fill fast, so we recommend reserving a slot online or by phone.
Opening a controller does typically void the manufacturer warranty. However, every mod we fit is covered by our own 12-month PowerGearLab workmanship guarantee, and we will always talk you through the trade-off before we start.
We service Xbox, PlayStation, and Nintendo Switch controllers, plus most third-party pro pads. For keyboards and rigs we work with all major switch, board, and component brands, and we can source group-buy parts on request.
A hot-swap starter build can be completed in a single two-hour bench slot. A full custom commission with sourced parts, foam mods, and tuned stabilisers usually takes one to three weeks depending on part availability.
Absolutely. Our aim and sensitivity sessions are structured for any level, and we tailor drills to your game and current rank. Many players start with a single hour to build a home practice routine before committing to a block.
